The B4 School Check is a nationwide programme offering a free health and development check for 4 to 5 year-olds.

Tests for colour vision deficiency no longer form part of the 11–12-year-old school-based checks.

Fruit in Schools (FIS) encourages children to eat more fruit and vegetables and to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Schools should include health and wellbeing in their planning and review processes, teaching strategies, curriculum and assessment activities.
