Coverage

One of the main performance measures of the National Cervical Screening Programme (NCSP) is coverage. Coverage is defined as the proportion of wāhine/women and people with a cervix eligible for screening who have been screened in the previous three years.

Our target is to reach 80% screening coverage for all those eligible.

Primary Health Organisation status report

The NCSP Cervical Screening Status Report is provided monthly to Primary Health Organisations (PHOs). This report is intended to support invitation and recall of eligible participants, and effective participant support and follow up.

The data in this report is supplied under section 112J(3) of the Health Act 1956. S112J(3). This permits register information to be disclosed to authorised individuals for the purpose of enabling:

  • results from a screening test or a diagnostic test to be followed up
  • notices to be sent to enrolled women and people with a cervix.
