Summary of feedback
From September 2024 to February 2025, Health NZ sought public comment on the draft release of NZCDI:2024. The comments received largely centred around the health consumer, immunisations, and allergies and adverse reactions data groups.
Feedback on the health consumer data group advocated for the inclusion of 'sex at birth' and 'sex parameter for clinical use' codes in addition to gender. Health NZ is presently developing guidance on the process for collecting accessing, sharing and use of gender and sex related information. The NZCDI reference group have agreed to include these data elements in NZCDI when the new guidance has been finalised.
The immunisations data group was thoroughly reviewed and suggestions for improvements will be addressed in future iterations.
Following community discussion, the reference group agreed to inclusion of additional elements in the allergies and adverse reactions data group.
Additional data groups were also suggested by the community. These included clinical notes, provider or facility details, encounter details and social determinants of health information. We will be reviewing these for future inclusion in NZCDI.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the NZCDI:2024 draft release. Your contribution is greatly valued and we look forward to the growth of the NZCDI community.
