This guideline has been updated to include the latest evidence-based research to guide clinical practice for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of pre-eclampsia and hypertension in pregnancy in New Zealand. The guideline is designed for health professionals to use to support clinical judgement, knowledge and expertise, and provide a consistent approach for screening, management and treatment.

This guideline has been updated to include Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity, recognising Te Whatu Ora’s obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. It also includes the use of gender additive language. They should be used in conjunction with Ngā paerewa Health and disability services standard 8134:2021 (Ngā paerewa).

The review process was supported by a technical advisory group and a multi-disciplinary steering group and wide-spread stakeholder consultation and feedback. Te Whatu Ora would like to thank everyone that has been involved with the update and those that have provided feedback.
