Signing up for My Health Account

If you are aged 12 or over and have accessed health or disability services in New Zealand, you can sign up for your own My Health Account. If you are aged 12 to 15 years, your parent or guardian can set up your My Health Account for you, if you give them your permission.

Before you sign up, you need your own email address. It must be unique to you and not one you share with someone else.

You can sign up and prove who you are online using:

  • your details that are held by your GP or medical centre. We call this the healthcare provider check.
  • one of several New Zealand and Australian identity documents
  • using RealMe® and RealMe Verified.

Type https://identity.health.nz into your browser, then follow the on-screen instructions. You can use a web browser on your preferred device – PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

You will be asked to read and agree to My Health Account’s Terms of use andPrivacy statement.

If you don’t have a device, you can use any computer or device with an internet connection. Just make sure you log off when you are finished.

Using the healthcare provider check

You can sign up and prove who you are online using the healthcare provider check if you are enrolled with a New Zealand general practice (GP) or medical centre. Before you start, you will need:

  • The residential address you have registered with your healthcare provider.
  • Your mobile phone. Your mobile number needs to match the number registered with your healthcare provider. You will be sent a text message with a code to confirm your My Health Account.

My Health Account is a secure website that helps you prove who you are online so that you can access online health services.

You can confirm who you are and create your My Health Account using an identity document, such as a valid driver’s licence, passport, or birth certificate, or using contact details held by your healthcare provider.

Creating your My Health Account will give you full access to My Covid Record so you can request and download your My Vaccine Pass or record your Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) results.

Creating an account for your child

Children under 12 years cannot have a My Health Account. If you have a child aged 12 to 15 years, you can set up an account for them, on their behalf, if you are their parent or legal guardian and they give you permission, or you can help them to set up the account themselves.

Some parents over 18 years of age can view some of their child’s or children’s important health information by adding a child or children to their My Health Account. Only details for children under 12 years of age can be added.
