The Ministry for Primary Industries (external link) and Food Standards Australia New Zealand (external link) are responsible for food safety and food standards in New Zealand.

 

Nutrition

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is responsible for providing guidelines and developing policy on nutrition.

 

Foodborne illness

Information about common foodborne illnesses, including salmonella and campylobacter, can be found on the Ministry for Primary Industries website (external link).

For surveillance information on foodborne illnesses, go to the Institute of Environmental Science and Research website (external link).

Public health is responsible for monitoring and investigating notifiable foodborne diseases, and for disease outbreak caused by foodborne illnesses. To notify public health of a foodborne disease or outbreak contact your local public health service.
