The Aotearoa New Zealand Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis, and Management of Acute Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease provides updated clinical guidelines for health professionals. These guidelines incorporate the latest evidence available at the time of publishing, ensuring assessment and management reflects current understanding of this condition in Aotearoa New Zealand.
This is the 3rd edition of the guidelines, following previous editions in 2006 and 2014 published by the National Heart Foundation of New Zealand, with a sore throat management update in 2019. These new guidelines bring together previous clinical guidelines into one, comprehensive resource for health professionals.
Emerging national and international evidence will be reviewed regularly by relevant expert groups and the guidelines will be updated as required.
