Ōtākaro Limited will be joining Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand’s Infrastructure and Investment group as a partner on the mental health unit rebuild project in Greymouth.
Improving mental health infrastructure across Aotearoa New Zealand is a priority for Te Whatu Ora. The Ōtākaro project team will be responsible for local delivery on the West Coast project. They will work alongside the Mental Health Infrastructure Programme (MHIP), which is responsible for supporting the delivery of mental health infrastructure across the motu.
The MHIP will ensure the new building will be clinically fit for purpose and enable improved health outcomes for the people who need to access care.
To ensure the project continues to progress while arrangements are finalised, the Infrastructure and Investment group is onboarding the Ōtākaro team so they can familiarise themselves with the health system and the project. Ōtākaro will then take on primary project delivery from preliminary design phase through to final delivery.
Local and regional input will be critical for the project’s success. Engagement with users, clinicians, whānau and Iwi will continue.
