Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora has announced that from 28 February the way New Zealanders manage and find health information about COVID-19 will be focused on two easy-to-use websites.
“As COVID-19 moves to become managed in a similar way to other public health diseases, the online tools we use to find and log information on COVID-19 are also evolving,” says Health NZ Director Sector Digital Channels Michael Dreyer.
Information about COVID-19 that used to be housed on the Unite Against COVID-19 (UAC) website will now be found on info.health.nz (external link). This site, launched in November last year, has been developed to provide reliable, easily accessible and up-to-date health information for New Zealanders, to enable them to make informed decisions for themselves and their whanau.
The site has information on a wide range of health conditions and support services, including advice about COVID-19, health conditions like diabetes, childhood ailments, and keeping healthy.
Mr Dreyer says: “The UAC site helped New Zealanders navigate their way through the pandemic. It’s done a great job and it’s now the right time for COVID-19 advice to be located alongside other health information.”
From 28 February, My Health Record (external link) (MHR) will provide information and functions previously provided by My COVID Record
“My Health Record, launched in December 2023, is a secure online tool enabling New Zealanders to view their COVID health information and see their wider immunisation records (back to 2005). Over time, it is expected that more health information will be available, such as current and past medications, lab results and community services and high use health card entitlements,” Mr Dreyer says.
“It will take over the job of My COVID Record set up in October 2021. This has become a well-known online location used by many but the need for a dedicated place for people’s COVID-19 information has diminished so Health NZ is consolidating to a single channel for this sort of information.”
Additionally, from 28 February, International Travel COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates will no longer be available for New Zealanders travelling overseas.
The World Health Organisation last year declared COVID-19 was no longer a public health emergency and recommended that proof of COVID-19 vaccination should be lifted as a border entry condition. Most countries have now done that. If needed, New Zealanders will be able to present their immunisation status via My Health Record.
From 28 February, visitors to the Unite Against COVID-19 and My COVID Record websites will be automatically redirected to the new locations for information.
