The Chief Executive of Health New Zealand asked for a review of BreastScreen Aotearoa (the national breast screening programme) in May 2022.

An independent panel carried out the review to check whether the programme’s systems for clinical safety and quality are working well and meeting its goals.

The panel also looked at whether the programme is being run fairly and effectively, and made recommendations for improvements.
