Proposed pay increased for care and support workers
Following tripartite discussions, it was proposed that service providers across the Home and Community, Disability, Mental Health & Addictions, and Aged Residential Care sectors consider increasing wage rates for care and support workers (CSWs) by 3% from funding made available by funders, effective 1 July 2023.
The purpose of this sector proposal was to outline a collective approach to ensure sector consistency. It was not a formal agreement or mechanism that could bind any party. However, some of the funding offered was tagged to this purpose.
Tripartite discussion and sector proposal document
The four relevant peak bodies and three unions had agreed to share the proposal document with their member providers to encourage them to consider increasing pay for care and support workers by 3% by 1 July 2023. Health New Zealand had agreed to publish the document on its website.
