Health New Zealand welcomes the ratification of the two Public Service Association (PSA) Public and Mental Health Nurses collective employment agreements for Auckland and the Rest of New Zealand.

Around 3,500 nurses will benefit from a 2.5 per cent salary increase in year one and a 2 per cent increase in year two over a term of 24 months. The agreement includes a lump sum payment of $800 and a $2000 flat rate increase on the top step for Enrolled Nurses.

The agreement also includes a boost to the professional development allowance for Nurse Practitioners and a commitment to the recruitment of over 550 new positions in this financial year.

The resolution of these negotiations has included important undertakings to work with the PSA on key issues, such as recruitment, retention, and health and safety.

We value the hard work and commitment of our public and mental health nursing workforce who protect and improve New Zealanders’ health & wellbeing every day.

We would like to acknowledge and thank the PSA for their collaboration to reach this settlement.
