Statement attributable to Dr Dale Bramley, Health New Zealand Chief Executive
Health New Zealand welcomes the decision by the Association of Professional and Executive Employees (APEX) members to settle the collective employment agreements for physiotherapists and medical laboratory workers.
The new collective agreements include a 2% salary increase and other workforce specific amendments with a term of 15 months, effective from 1 November 2025.
We value the hard work and dedication of our physiotherapy and medical laboratory workforces and recognise the significant contribution they make to caring for the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.
The settlements cover 140 FTE physiotherapists and 379 FTE medical laboratory workers.
We would like to acknowledge the constructive approach APEX has taken during this bargaining round which has helped to ensure a positive outcome for their members.
We remain hopeful that bargaining will enable us to settle other outstanding collective agreement negotiations with health unions.
