Vaccination and immunisation

Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect yourself from infectious diseases like measles, shingles, and COVID-19. Most vaccinations are free.

  • New Zealand Immunisation Schedule (goes to another website)

    The National Immunisation Schedule is the series of vaccines that are offered free to babies, children, adolescents and adults.

  • Childhood immunisation (goes to another website)

    Immunisaton for children is free. Find out about how immunisation protects children from serious diseases throughout life.

  • Immunisation during pregnancy (goes to another website)

    Immunisation against COVID-19, influenza (flu), and whooping cough during pregnancy is recommended by the Ministry of Health, and free.

  • Immunisation for older children and teenagers (goes to another website)

    Find out about the free immunisations provided through schools or general practices for older children and teenagers.

    Older people also need immunisation. Find out about the free immunisations available for people at age 65 and older.

    COVID-19 vaccinations are free for everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand aged 5+. It doesn't matter what your visa or citizenship status is.

    If you were born after 1969, you may not be fully protected against measles. This puts you at greater risk of catching and spreading the disease.
