The Healthify He Puna Waiora website provides one place for New Zealanders to find reliable and trustworthy health information and self-care resources. It is a non-profit community initiative combining the efforts of a wide range of partner and supporter organisations, and is overseen by the Health Navigator Charitable Trust.

Healthline

Anyone can call Healthline for free on 0800 611 116, any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for free.

Healthline provides trusted health advice, information, advice about what to do next, and treatment - from nurses, paramedics, advisors. Doctors (who can help with prescriptions) are available 7am - 11pm.

The Healthline team can support you if you can’t access a GP/doctor or if you don’t have one, or If you’re concerned or not sure about something, or what to do next.

Healthline provides healthcare support for everyone

  • You can choose to speak with a Māori clinician if you’re calling between 8 am - 8 pm
  • Interpreter services are available
  • NZ Relay support for Deaf, hearing impaired, Deafblind or speech impaired is available.
  • If you don’t need immediate help you can request a call back at www.healthy.org.nz.

If it is a medical emergency – call 111. Medical emergencies include chest pain or tightness, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding or bleeding that won’t stop, sudden weakness or difficulty talking, fainting or unconsciousness.

Call your family doctor – for advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For rural after-hours medical advice and treatment contact your rural GP, call 0800 KA ORA (0800 252 672), or book an appointment at www.kaora.co.nz.

For COVID-19 health advice call the COVID Healthline free on 0800 358 5453 8.30am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday. Outside of that, there is an option to connect to Healthline

For vaccination advice (COVID, flu, MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella), Boostrix (whooping cough)), call the Vaccination Healthline free on 0800 28 29 26, available 8.30am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday.

For support for the Disability Community with COVID testing, managing COVID at home and any general health concerns, call the Disability Helpline 0800 11 12 13 or text 8988 available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A person with experience or knowledge of disability will answer 8.30am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday. Outside of that, calls are answered by a trained member of the Healthline team

PlunketLine is available free, 24 hours a day on 0800 933 922. Plunket nurses can provide advice about child health or parenting e.g. crying, sleeping, your child’s growth, development, behaviour, immunisation, breastfeeding, nutrition, or oral health.
