A person’s care is decided by an assessment of their needs, and there are four levels of ARC:

  • rest home
  • hospital
  • secure dementia
  • specialised (psychogeriatric) care.

 

Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand contracts with aged residential care providers for delivery of services to older people.  The two key agreements are the Age-Related Residential Care Agreement (ARRC) and the Aged Residential Hospital Specialised Services (ARHSS) Agreement. They are reviewed annually in collaboration with the aged residential care sector.
