Health New Zealand is continuing its rollout of Holidays Act remediation payments, with over 2,700 health workers in Hawke’s Bay and South Canterbury receiving a combined $10.6 million this week.
This week’s payments include $9.6 million to over 2,100 current employees in Hawke's Bay which was paid on Thursday, and $1 million to over 600 current employees in South Canterbury which was paid on Friday.
Health NZ’s Holidays Act Remediation Program spans 24 payrolls, affecting around 90,000 current and 130,000 former employees. Not everyone is eligible for a payment, as some were paid correctly at the time.
This week’s payment brings the total to $663 million paid to current and former staff so far.
Remediation work continues for current employees in Mid Central, Lakes, and Whanganui, alongside a national rollout for former employees. Payments will be released in stages over the next 12 to 18 months.
Former employees are encouraged to register via Health NZ’s national portal here (external link) to ensure they receive any payments owed.
